As a wedding planner I get to visit many beautiful venues and attend lots of lovely events, just one of the reasons I love my job. Last week I was invited to the wedding showcase at Leeds Castle, in Kent.
The Castle is one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain and has over 1000 years of history attached to it. Whilst being a fascinating venue, it is also a very beautiful Castle. Set in the most stunning Kent countryside, the Castle is set on a 500 acre estate, surrounded by woodland, parkland and lakes.
The Castle offers a number of different options as a wedding venue. For something truly special, couples can opt for an Exclusive Castle Island Wedding where they have use of the Maidens Tower and a number of rooms in the Castle itself for their ceremony and reception. This includes accommodation of up to 25 bedrooms. The Maidens Tower can also be booked as a venue separate to the Castle, where couples can hold their ceremony and reception. The Tower is a very pretty venue, historic and full of character whilst also being very comfortable and offering a contemporary feel and wonderful selection of en-suite bedrooms.
Then there is Fairfax Hall, a beautiful old tithe barn overlooking the Castle Island, which can comfortably accommodate up to 180 guests for dinner and dancing. This is a great option for larger weddings and is a very flexible space with beautiful views overlooking the Castle. Accommodation is also offered at Fairfax Hall.
Opening in the summer of 2017 is Battel Hall, a beautiful old Hall House, fully refurbished to include the very best furnishings and decoration. This will be an exclusive use venue boasting a private garden, 11 en-suite bedrooms and in-house catering. It is expected to offer wedding ceremonies both inside and outside in the garden.
The number of venues at the Castle also work really well for other celebrations, including private parties, baby showers, private dining or even a children’s knights and princesses party. Of course, if you want something really special, which lots of our clients do, it is possible to close the entire estate and have it as a completely private venue. This of course is subject to approval but would offer a fabulous bespoke option and certainly a truly memorable event.
